TRAINING RIDE – Gary Date

The Tuesday was a cold sunny day, medical so I decide to go out for an 86mile training loop around Lake Windermere in my new inverse racing kit.

I took on the Kirkstone Pass, site which is 453 meters of climbing then a fast drop into Patterdale before climbing up and over Matterdale End tp 347 meters. Feeling a bit hungry i dropped into Ambleside for lunch at the Glass House Restaurant.

Of course a trip to The Trek bike shop was necessary before heading back.

The ride home was a direct route in the rolling hills of the lakes to give me the interval training I needed plus the head wind made sure I was working hard. I went home via Windermere and Kendal through the lanes.

In all it was a good five hours out on the bike, breaking in my new kit and using the new Bikefood water bottles.
