The 1st April Fools Newent Duathlon organised by Tri Team Glos was held at the Newent Leisure Centre, viagra Gloucestershire on Sunday 1st April 2012, healing here is the event report by Bill Hawkes – one of our first customers when Bikefood products were launched to the World.
“Competitors were greeted by a beautiful Spring morning, salve with clear blue skies and very little wind. The first run of 5Km was initially around the playing field, through the town of Newent around the lake, returning back through the town centre.
The 18Km cycle route routed initially through the town and then out into the lanes around neighbouring villages of Taynton, Tibberton, Highleadon and Malswick, before returning to the Centre. The 2nd run was a repeat of the first with the exception of the playing field section.
A total of 135 competitors of all abilities took part in the event, each being rewarded with a sachet of Bikefood drink mix along with a drinks bottle. The overall winners and second placed lady and man were given a box of drink mix sachets along with a bottle, both generously donated by Bikefood, together with their Trophy.
The winner of the men’s race was Andrew Fisher in a time of 1:06:28. He was closely followed 52 seconds behind by Daniel Peabody.
Winner of the ladies race was Michelle Parsons from Worcester Tri Club who finished some 11 minute ahead of the second lady Sian Holley in a time of 1:12:37
After the success of the inaugural event it is planned to run again in 2013″
